Welcome to Heads Together Therapy

I offer a professional online counselling support service for adults across the UK.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, lonely, misunderstood, or unsure where to turn, therapy can offer a calm, supportive space to explore what you’re carrying and begin to make sense of things.

Who I work with

I’m a person‑centred counsellor in Warrington, offering online therapy for adults who feel overwhelmed, lonely, misunderstood, or unsure where to turn.

Many of the people I work with are trying to make sense of experiences that have changed how they see themselves, and they’re looking for a calm, supportive place to talk openly and begin to feel steadier.

Two groups of people often find their way to me:

  • Adults living with long‑term chronic illness who are dealing with isolation, health anxiety, grief for the life they had, or a deep sense of identity loss.
  • Adults diagnosed with ADHD later in life who are navigating masking, shame, burnout, and the confusion of suddenly seeing their past through a new lens.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost, lonely, or unsure how to cope with the emotional impact of chronic illness or a late ADHD diagnosis, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I offer a warm, human relationship where you can feel seen, supported, and able to make sense of who you are and what you’re carrying.

Services

Counselling for Chronic Illness

Support for identity loss, health anxiety & emotional overwhelm

Living with a long‑term condition can be overwhelming, lonely, and emotionally exhausting. Chronic illness often brings uncertainty, health anxiety, identity loss, and a quiet grief for the life you had before.

I offer a calm, steady space where you can talk openly about what you’re carrying, feel understood, and begin to reconnect with yourself.

My lived experience of multiple autoimmune conditions helps me offer grounded, compassionate support for people who feel unseen or misunderstood in their daily lives – especially when the emotional impact is overlooked elsewhere.

Counselling for Late ADHD Diagnosis

Space to explore masking, burnout & self‑understanding

Receiving an ADHD diagnosis later in life can bring relief, confusion, and a flood of emotions you weren’t expecting. You may be navigating years of masking, burnout, shame, or the challenge of seeing your past through a completely new lens.

I offer a warm, non‑judgemental space where you can explore your diagnosis at your own pace, make sense of your story, and build a kinder, more accurate understanding of who you are.

My own lived experience of late diagnosis helps me support adults who feel overwhelmed or unsure where to begin, especially when they’re trying to rewrite long-held beliefs abut themselves.

Person‑Centred Counselling for Adults

A calm, steady place to talk openly and feel heard

You may not be living with chronic illness or ADHD, but still feel overwhelmed, lost, lonely, or unsure how to move forward. I offer person‑centred counselling for adults who want a safe, supportive place to talk openly and feel heard.

Together, we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without pressure or judgement, helping you find clarity, steadiness, and a deeper connection to yourself, wherever you are in life.

Finding the right therapist

Finding the right therapist is an important step toward improving your mental well‑being. It matters that you feel comfortable, understood, and able to talk openly about what you’re carrying — especially if you’re living with chronic illness or adjusting to a late ADHD diagnosis.

To help you make an informed decision, I offer a complimentary initial phone consultation. It’s a chance for you to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide whether this space feels right for you. There’s no pressure or expectation — just a gentle opportunity to explore whether we’re a good fit.

If you’re unsure where to start, or you’re feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or confused about what you need, this first conversation can help you find some clarity and support.

About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah Groves, a person‑centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Warrington. I offer online counselling for adults across the UK, creating a calm, supportive space where people can talk openly, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what they’re carrying

My work is shaped by a deep respect for the emotional impact of life experiences that change how people see themselves. Many of the people I support are living with long‑term chronic illness or adjusting to an ADHD diagnosis later in life. Both can bring overwhelm, loneliness, identity shifts, and a sense of not knowing where to turn — and both deserve a space where the emotional side is taken seriously.

My understanding of chronic illness is informed not only by my professional training, but also by my own lived experience of multiple autoimmune conditions. I know what it’s like to navigate uncertainty, fluctuating symptoms, and the quiet grief of losing parts of the life you once had. This experience helps me offer a grounded, compassionate presence for people who feel misunderstood or alone in what they’re facing.

I also bring lived experience of receiving an ADHD diagnosis later in life. I understand the mix of relief, confusion, and emotional upheaval that can come with suddenly seeing your past through a new lens — the years of masking, the burnout, the “why didn’t anyone notice?”, and the slow, steady work of rebuilding your sense of self. This helps me support adults who are trying to make sense of their diagnosis and find a kinder, more accurate understanding of who they are.

I bring warmth, honesty, and steadiness to the therapeutic relationship. I don’t sit in silence or hide behind clinical language. Instead, I offer a grounded, human presence where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without judgement or pressure.

I hold an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Salford and am a registered member of the BACP. My background includes research into the psychological experiences of adults diagnosed with ADHD later in life, and my own lived experiences inform the compassion and understanding I bring to this work.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost, lonely, or unsure how to cope with the emotional impact of chronic illness or a late ADHD diagnosis, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to offer a space where you can feel seen, supported, and able to reconnect with who you are.

My Approach

My approach is person‑centred, which means the relationship between us is at the heart of the work. I offer a warm, steady, human presence — not silence, not clinical distance, and not a list of strategies you’re expected to follow. Instead, I create a space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and explore what you’re carrying at your own pace.

I work gently and collaboratively, helping you make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgement or pressure. Whether you’re living with chronic illness or adjusting to a late ADHD diagnosis, I understand how overwhelming, lonely, and confusing these experiences can be. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, clarity, and compassion as you begin to reconnect with who you are.

Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you — because you’re not broken. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, finding steadiness in the midst of uncertainty, and building a kinder relationship with your own story.

A gentle space to begin feeling steadier

Whether you’re living with chronic illness, adjusting to a late ADHD diagnosis, or simply feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, you’re welcome here. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating — it can be a calm, supportive place to talk openly, feel understood, and begin reconnecting with yourself.

If you’d like to explore working together, you’re invited to reach out for a complimentary initial consultation.
